Mr. Boschwitz' newest title is America's new representative (Ambassador) to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.
I see a correlation between his attending the celebration of the Treaty signing as he is a proponent for Human Rights..Those same rights that were trampled in many countries during WWII. Perhaps our Secretary of State would have been another good person to attend, but she was busy planning and making a trip to Iraq. While I personally want all our soldiers brought home today....I still appreciate that our leaders, especially the more visible ones take a few moments to go to the deployed areas. That is a much more important trip to make, in my opinion, than one to Austria for a "celebration" no matter how serious the event.
Who do you think should have attended?

In my opinion the State Treaty has nothing to do with Human Rights, it is basically the same for Austria as the Declaration of Independence is to the US. That is the reason why I think that Mr. Boschwitz was not the perfect person for that celebration. Simply because the State Treaty has nothing to do with the human rights that were trampled on during WWII.
I am not saying that a visit to the deployed area is not important, not at all. I know that this year a lot of anniversaries are taking place here in Austria. I just think (that is my personal view) if an event had been planned for over a year, there should not be any problems to send someone to it who has some kind of connection to the actual event.
After reading Mr. Boschwitz's biography I thought he would have been a great person to come to the anniverary of the end of WWII where a considerable number of US soldiers were participating re-opening the gates. I don't know if you agree or disagree, it is just my opinion...
